Playboating in Paros

During the meltemi (katabatic wind) season, the Mykonos - Paros strait is notorious as an acceleration zone for the katabatic wind with forces 7, gusting 8 (Beaufort scale). Heavy NW swells and onshore winds funnel gnarly waves through the strait and on the North headland of Paros. The Cape Korakas lies north of the Monastiri beach. The swell and the spilling waves will satisfy most playboaters and adrenaline junkies.

Στο κέντρο του Αιγαίου, εκεί που η στεριά και η θάλασσα αντιδικούν όταν θεριεύει το μελτέμι, προβάλει το ακρωτήριο Κόρακας. Ο κάβος με τον ομώνυμο φάρο βρίσκεται στο μάτι του μπουγαζιού Πάρου - Μυκόνου. Όταν το μελτέμι φρεσκάρει και το εφτάρι θαλασσώσει, οι ρεματικές του στενού κατεβαίνουν ορμητικές για τους λάτρεις του καγιάκ και της αδρεναλίνης.
